Adelaide’s iconic Supercars street race is shifting gears, entering an exciting new chapter with a fresh name, brand, and major sponsor.
The event formerly known as the Adelaide 500 will now be called the bp Adelaide Grand Final, thanks to a new title partnership with global energy giant bp, which has been operating in Australia for over a century.
This transformation comes with more than just a name change to the event which is still known to many as the Clipsal 500.
The bp Adelaide Grand Final will officially crown the winner of the Repco Supercars Championship under a newly introduced Finals Series format.
In a first for Australian motorsport, the top four drivers of the season will have their points reset and go head-to-head in a thrilling, winner-takes-all battle right here in Adelaide.
This year’s race will also commemorate 40 years of the iconic Adelaide street circuit, adding even more weight to the high-octane celebration. Premier Peter Malinauskas welcomed the evolution of the event.
“The Adelaide 500 has always held pride of place on the national motorsport calendar, but the bp Adelaide Grand Final takes that to the next level. The new format ensures that Adelaide remains the home of the season’s most anticipated showdown every year.”
The announcement also marks a milestone for bp Australia, with Paul Augé, Senior Vice President of bp Australia and New Zealand, highlighting the company’s ambitions.
“We’re waving the green flag in the Festival State. We’ve grown our local footprint with X Convenience and now we’re powering Australia’s biggest motorsport event — the bp Adelaide Grand Final. It’s a proud moment after five years of strong partnership with Supercars.”
Mark your calendars: the bp Adelaide Grand Final will roar through the streets of Adelaide from 27–30 November, delivering a pulse-pounding spectacle in the heart of the city.
Further details and ticketing information will be released soon — but one thing is certain: this year’s finale is not to be missed.
