The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has announced a powerful celebration of 90 years of music, creativity, and community connection with more than 100 performances across South Australia.

The ASO’s anniversary season promises to unite audiences through a year-long tribute to live orchestral music and its enduring ability to inspire and move people of all ages.

According to ASO Chief Executive Colin Cornish AM, the milestone program is both a celebration and an invitation.

“Our 90th anniversary season is an invitation to every South Australian to join the ASO and participate in live musical experiences that inspire, soothe and excite audiences of all ages.

“The program has been created to celebrate the enormous sense of pride the musicians and the community share for the orchestra,” he said.

At the heart of the 2026 celebrations is the ASO’s flagship Symphony Series, an eight-concert showcase of world-class performances at Adelaide Town Hall. The series opens with Jupiter, featuring acclaimed Russian pianist Konstantin Shamray performing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2.

Other highlights include ASO Principal Clarinettist Dean Newcomb premiering a new work by Joe Chindamo and a world premiere commission from Australian composer Holly Harrison, performed by the internationally renowned classical accordionist James Crabb.

For film lovers, the ASO presents the final chapter of its eight-year Harry Potter journey with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in Concert, alongside the South Australian premiere of How to Train Your Dragon in Concert, both performed live to screen at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

As the ASO steps into its 90th year, it does so not just as a world-class orchestra, but as a living, breathing part of South Australia’s cultural story, one that continues to play in perfect harmony with its community.
