Maison Cheryse is opening its doors in Greenock, introducing an elevated destination where fine pâtisserie, hands-on experiences and genuine hospitality come together under one roof.
The Maison Cheryse team is breathing life into the beautifully restored 1860’s bakery on Murray Street, finding a permanent home to continue to feed a devoted following of its handcrafted pastries and desserts.
More than simply relocating from its previous home, the move represents a long-held dream to create a destination centred on slowing down, connecting with others and celebrating the artistry of pastry and the start of something much more.
While preserving many of its original heritage features, the building has been completely reimagined, with a purpose-built pastry kitchen and carefully restored interiors creating a warm and welcoming space with pockets for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.
Owner Cheryse Hill, formerly Zagler believes that Maison Cheryse has been designed as a place where guests are encouraged to linger and enjoy a slower dining experience.
“We want guests to enjoy a slower experience with us, whether that’s over beautifully brewed coffee, a pot of tea or a plated pastry that has been carefully crafted. It’s about inviting people into our home and allowing them to take a little piece of us home with them.
“Everything we create reflects who we are as people. This has always been the dream.
“Maison Cheryse is our family’s story. It’s everything we’ve built together, and now we finally have a place to share it with everyone, ” Mrs Hill said.
After previously leasing a space from Kaesler Wines, Cheryse and her family have had their eye on a bigger, more purpose built space for current and future projects.
“When you have children, you want to show them what it means to follow your dreams and work hard for something you truly believe in.
“Maison Cheryse will continue serving our signature handcrafted pâtisserie alongside Charlie Black coffee and premium tea, while introducing an expanded menu of seasonal offerings that showcase the techniques more commonly associated with fine dining, ” Mrs Hill said.
The acquisition of the space will also ensure the creation and development of a series of intimate pastry workshops, allowing guests to learn directly from Cheryse. Visitors will be able to master croissants, brioche, cake decorating and other pâtisserie techniques while watching demonstrations from the purpose-built studio kitchen.
The new venue is just the beginning for Maison Cheryse with plans for future projects to launch in late spring, further expanding the destination into an all-season experience.
