When Adelaide icon Enzo’s Ristorante served its final plate of blue swimmer crab linguine in May 2024, it marked the end of an era, but not the end of the story. For more than two decades, the Fazzari family dished up soul-warming Calabrian cuisine to loyal diners who became more like friends. That same culinary passion continues through Enzo’s at Home, a thriving retail brand bringing the beloved flavours of Enzo’s into kitchens around the country.
Founded by Enzo himself and brought to life by his sons Alex and Matt Fazzari, Enzo’s at Home is a story of family, food, and the unshakable belief that a good meal can make you feel like you belong.
Stocked in independent retailers across Australia, the label reflects the same values that made Enzo’s Ristorante one of the most cherished dining rooms in the state: authenticity, quality, and an unrelenting dedication to tradition.
But this is not a modern trend-chasing venture. Long before “restaurant-to-retail” became a buzzword, Enzo Fazzari was already blazing that trail. In the early 1990s, while still busy in his restaurant kitchen, Enzo was experimenting with ready-made pastas and sauces, selling them to locals who wanted a little piece of Enzo’s to take home. That foresight laid the groundwork for what would eventually become Enzo’s at Home, launched by his sons in the early 2000’s.
Son Matt has continued to support the building of Enzo’s legacy across the country, keeping the family business moving forward.
“My dad was always ahead of his time.
“When he and my uncle bought pasta-making equipment and started Tutto Pasta in the early ’90s, they saw potential in retail before anyone else did. We’re just continuing that vision,” Mr Fazzari said.
From modest beginnings, including a small kitchen with a couple of burners and a few pasta machines, the family has built a nationally recognised brand now selling more product interstate than in South Australia. The factory, previously located in Flinders Park, recently relocated to the former Slape and Sons site in Newton, signalling a major expansion and investment in the future of the business.
“The new site gives us room to grow.
“We can now scale production, support more independent retailers, and build a solid ecommerce arm that helps us reach customers across the country. It’s a huge leap forward for us.
“These are our family recipes. We don’t cut corners.”Mr Fazzari said.
This growth hasn’t come easy. But driven by passion and guided by their father’s recipes, they pushed forward. Today, their lasagna is the number one seller, a simple but powerful reminder of the brand’s origin in home-cooked goodness.
When Enzo’s Ristorante opened in 1999 in Hindmarsh, it quickly gained a cult following. Even global celebrities fell under Enzo’s spell. Andrea Bocelli famously dined there after an Adelaide concert and was so impressed with a dish that Enzo renamed it in his honour.
Over the years, everyone from Michael Bublé to Barry Humphries graced the restaurant’s tables, but it was the local regulars, the families, the weekly diners, the anniversary bookings, that kept Enzo going.
However, the Fazzari legacy now lives on as daughter Natalie a runs Enoteca Lounge & Cucina on Rundle Street, while Matt and Alex continue to grow Enzo’s at Home.
And with Enzo’s at Home now found in fridges and freezers from Port Adelaide to Perth, it’s safe to say that the name, and the family behind it, are only just getting started.
Some legacies aren’t left behind. They’re passed on. One meal at a time.
