Tucked quietly into the rolling greens of McLaren Vale, Willunga Ridge is more than just a beautiful retreat, it’s a story brought to life by two seasoned travellers turned thoughtful hosts.
After purchasing a slice of an old sheep farm on the sun-soaked edge of the Willunga hills, the travellers and owners, Nils and Sally began to build from the ground up, literally.
Hosts, Nils, a pilot for an international airline, and Sally a melanographer and clinic manager, his partner of 35 years, share a love of the road and the raw beauty of landscape that would become Willunga Ridge, a soulful, sustainable stay designed for people looking to reconnect with nature, simplicity, and themselves.
There was no power, no water, just an empty sheep yard and 10 hectares of raw potential which makes the fact that Willunga Ridge now stands proudly off-grid, powered by solar, sustained by rainwater, truly amazing.

After first meeting on a rugged four-wheel drive journey across Australia, Nils and Sally set out to create something intimate and quietly refined so that visitors can arrive not to be impressed but to exhale.
Their vision came to life through two architecturally striking pods.
Crafted in partnership with local builders and a designer the pods sit gently on the land, merging clean modern lines with raw, earthy textures with large panes of glass, inviting the outside in, offering rolling views and changing skies as a backdrop for visitors.
Every detail speaks to quiet luxury, fireplaces, fire pits, plush beds, and curated spaces where guests can either reconnect or retreat.
The experience, as Nils and Sally describe, is “about more than the stay.” It’s a full immersion.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy the region and the culinary masterpieces of the surrounding businesses, or take matters into their own hands in the fully equipped kitchen, wander the property, and watch the seasons shift across the valley.
Willunga Ridge invites you to step away, breathe deep, and be reminded of the beauty that stillness can bring.
