After months of whispers and days of cryptic clues, it’s official: Ed Sheeran is returning to Australia in 2026 and he’s bringing his brand-new Loop Tour to Adelaide Oval on Thursday, 5 March.

Fans, mark your calendars.

Presented by Frontier Touring and MG Live, this tour marks Sheeran’s hotly anticipated return to stadiums across Australia and New Zealand, kicking off in Auckland on 16 January and wrapping right here in Adelaide. With ticket pre-sales for the Adelaide show starting on the 25th July, the countdown is well and truly on.

For those of us lucky enough to have seen Ed live when he played in Adelaide back in 2023, we know exactly what we’re in for: a world-class performer who somehow makes a stadium crowd feel intimate. That show? Electric. From the opening notes of Castle on the Hill to the anthemic energy of Bad Habits, it was one of those rare gigs where every person in the audience, all ages, all walks of life, was locked in, singing every word like it was written for them.

This time around, Sheeran is touring in support of his upcoming album, Play, due for release on 12 September. Early whispers describe it as a return to “big pop”, the kind of irresistible hooks and earworms that defined his earlier work, but with a twist.

Sheeran has drawn inspiration from Indian and Persian musical cultures, blending them with traditional Irish folk, creating what he calls a journey toward “joy and technicolour” after a period of personal darkness.

It’s a new chapter, but the same Sheeran magic.

Of course, in classic Ed fashion, he’s going big.

This tour follows the record-breaking Mathematics Tour, where he played to over 109,000 people at the MCG, a feat unmatched by any solo artist. Expect similarly massive crowds in 2026, though Sheeran has made it clear that ticketing will be tightly controlled, with strict anti-scalping measures in place to ensure fans don’t miss out.

Telstra Plus members will have first access to pre-sale tickets from Friday, 25 July, with Frontier Members following on Monday, 28 July. General public sales open Tuesday, 29 July, with staggered timings across cities. For Adelaide fans, that means 11:30 am ACST and yes, you’ll want to set that alarm early.

We’ll be there, front and centre. Because once you’ve seen Ed Sheeran live, you never miss a chance to see him again. A

Adelaide Oval under the stars, thousands of voices in harmony, and that red-haired troubadour looping his way through hit after hit? Count us in.

Welcome back, Ed. We’ve missed you.

Tickets for Ed Sheeran’s 2026 Adelaide show go on sale Tuesday, 29 July at 11:30 am ACST via ticketek.com.au. All shows are all ages.
