South Australia’s beloved Fleurieu Peninsula will once again come alive with flavour, fire, and community spirit as the 2025 Fleurieu Food Festival takes over the region for a month-long celebration of food, wine, and place.
Now in its fourth year, the festival has carved out a delicious reputation for connecting people with the stories behind the produce and this year, it’s set to be bigger, bolder, and more indulgent than ever.
With over sixty events across the region, the festival offers a chance to taste the Fleurieu from soil to sip. Think vineyard feasts nestled between the vines, hands-on pasta and cheese-making workshops, intimate long-table lunches, and chef-led experiences that bring local flavours to life in bold and unexpected ways. It’s not just about what’s on the plate, it’s about where it came from and a celebration of who made it and why it matters.
At its heart, the Fleurieu Food Festival is a celebration of community. Farmers, winemakers, chefs, and food artisans open their kitchens, cellars, and paddocks to visitors, sharing not just their craft but the deep connection they have to this corner of the world. It’s a chance to meet the makers, taste the terroir, and experience a region where “local” isn’t a buzzword, it’s a way of life.
“Winter is the perfect time to discover the Fleurieu.
“The log fires, the crisp air, the generosity of our producers, it all comes together in a way that feels authentic, warm, and deeply satisfying,” says Festival Board Chair Todd Steel.
The 2025 program offers something for every palate. Guests might find themselves enjoying a woodfired seafood feast on the windswept shores of the Coorong, settling in for a mushroom-led degustation at Ekhidna Wines, or learning how to make silky mozzarella in a workshop inspired by Nonna herself.
New to this year’s lineup is an ultra-intimate dining experience with Will Doak of Lost Phoenix Farm, who will create a three-course feast for guests staying at luxury retreat Nest and Nature in the Inman Valley.
On our radar is the event Stories from Oma & Baba’s Kitchen: A Long Lunch of Love, Laughter & Legacy, hosted by Taryn and Anastazija at Hector’s Modern Australian Kitchen. This heartfelt long lunch is a celebration of heritage, humour, and the recipes passed down through generations.
With roots in Germany and the Balkans, the hosts will serve two dishes per course, each steeped in family tradition and soul.
Whether you’re craving comfort food, culinary adventure, or a glass of something special by a roaring fire, the Fleurieu Food Festival invites you to savour winter the way it was meant to be, slow, rich, and full of flavour.
