Tucked away in a quiet city-fringe corner, a cheekily named little café is making a seriously big impression.
This boutique neighbourhood venue is fast becoming one of Adelaide’s most talked-about food destinations.
From the powerhouse hospitality duo behind Noi Vietnamese Eatery, Ong Vietnamese Kitchen, Shibui and Shmochi by Shibui, Chef Quang Nguyen and his wife Thy Nguyen have once again struck gold.
With a cult following growing by the day, their monthly Please Send Noods event redefining the local café experience and putting Adelaide’s hidden gems firmly on the foodie map.
By day, it’s a cosy, sun-drenched nook where regulars gather for comfort food and exceptional coffee and once a month, by night, the space transforms into an intimate and unexpected dinner destination, hosting exclusive monthly events that sell out within hours of announcement.
Each event follows a unique theme, creatively reimagined through Quang’s signature lens, a balance of contemporary Vietnamese technique, European classics, and bold Asian-inspired flavours.
The menu is always adventurous, indulgent, and surprising in delightful ways. Diners can expect house-made pasta tossed with umami-rich XO sauce, drizzles of black truffle oil, crispy garlic, and a show-stopping ice creams made by their sister venue Shmochi by Shibui that has quickly become a fan favourite.
Chef Quang Nguyễn loves the concept and is focused on making sure each event has something different that keeps the customers coming back.
“These events let us have fun, push the boundaries, and bring people together in a really personal way.
“We wanted to create a space that feels like home but also gives you something you wouldn’t expect from a local café.
“It’s intimate, it’s welcoming, and it always sells out, not because we’re trying to be exclusive, but because we pour our heart into it. People are responding to that,” Mr Nguyen said.
And respond they have. Each month’s event fills quickly with a loyal crowd of in-the-know locals, foodies, and industry insiders eager to taste what’s next, many have been at these events since inception. The unique format includes limited seats, themed menus, and a cosy, no-fuss atmosphere, a refreshing shift from traditional fine dining.
But even as the buzz builds, the heart of Please Send Noods remains local. The venue is as much about community as it is about cuisine. The staff remember your coffee order. The playlist is always on point. There’s a feeling of familiarity, and then a jolt of surprise when the food exceeds every expectation.
In true Nguyen fashion, the space feels playful, bold, and deeply considered, much like their other venues, which have become staples in Adelaide’s modern Vietnamese dining scene.
But Please Send Noods is perhaps their most personal project yet, a love letter to noodles, community, and the joy of unexpected flavour.
So is this Adelaide’s best kept secret? For now, maybe. But with word spreading fast and bookings filling quicker each month, it won’t be for long.
