For many entrepreneurs, success is built on resilience, passion, and the support of a community. For Elaine Tang, founder of Melvory Skincare, this couldn’t be truer. What started as a small market stall has blossomed into a thriving, award-winning brand, one that champions natural skincare, inclusivity, and social impact.
Elaine’s journey began with a simple goal: to create gentle, nourishing skincare products that families could trust, without the additives that are so prevalent in our products today. Juggling motherhood and her career, she poured her energy into formulating and perfecting each product.
As demand grew, Elaine found herself navigating new challenges, from sourcing high-quality ingredients to scaling production. When COVID-19 disrupted global supply chains, Melvory had already built a strong 10,000 person community of loyal customers who continued to support the brand. Determined to meet demand, Elaine transformed a room in her home into a lab, personally making and packaging products while managing a growing team. That year, Melvory reached its first million-dollar revenue milestone, a moment that reinforced Elaine’s belief in her vision.
But for Elaine, success has never been just about numbers. A firm believer in giving back, she launched a social impact initiative where every order donates 10 meals to children in need in Nairobi, Kenya. To date, Melvory has provided over 1,000,000 meals, to NoHungryChildren, proving that business can be both profitable and purposeful.
Each year Elaine continues to grow her team, her product lines and her business, earning multiple awards. In 2022, she took another bold step, moving into her first warehouse in Stepney. Within just nine months, the space was filled, leading to the expansion of her team. Now, in 2025, Melvory is set to move into its own purpose-built warehouse, an achievement Elaine describes as “a dream come true.”
“I am very lucky. Our community is incredibly supportive. I used to make home deliveries to mothers across South Australia that had sought out the product from various Facebook groups and they were just as grateful for me as I was for them.
“I went from being a pharmacist to organising market stalls with my product, to taking it online. I still remember when we first launched our website properly in August 2018 and in the first hour we had 26 orders with 12 products.
Balancing a family and a new business was a challenge, but one that Elaine and her husband prepared to do together.
“I reflect on our time since those early days and I can’t believe the heights we are taking the company to. We experienced hitting our first million in revenue in 2020 and the business hasn’t slowed down. To get to do all of this with my husband is a really lovely part of the experience.
With an empowered team and a well-oiled operation, Elaine is now focusing on expanding her product range, including an eco-friendly product line to be released in 2026, while ensuring Melvory remains a business that uplifts, inspires, and gives back.
From a single market stall to a leading natural skincare brand, Elaine Tang’s story is a testament to perseverance, community, and the belief that anything is possible with the right support.
