Comedy fans, brace yourselves—Akmal Saleh is back for Adelaide Fringe 2025 with his latest show, Red Flags. The Australian comedy veteran, known for his quick wit and unfiltered humor, promises an unforgettable night of laughter as he takes audiences on a journey through scams, spirituality, and the absurdities of modern life.

Adelaide holds a special place in Akmal’s heart as he describes the way that Adelaide Fringe rivals Edinburgh.

“It’s like no other festival in the world—better than Edinburgh in a way. More concentrated, more like a real village,” Mr Saleh said.

He first performed here in 1996 and has returned time and again and declares he will still keep visiting Adelaide and being a part of the Adelaide Fringe while people are happy to see him.

Akmal, who has been a staple of the comedy scene for decades, admits that his shows are always evolving. Red Flags is no exception.

“I don’t do scripted shows word for word. I add bits, take bits out—it grows over time.

“I still love it, and as long as people keep coming to see me, I’ll keep doing it,” Mr Saleh says.

This time around, his focus is on the bizarre world of scams that prey on the hopeful, from overpriced crystals to miracle healing claims.

Despite his love for Adelaide Fringe, Akmal loves intimate settings where he can truly connect with his audience and believes the beauty of a road show is the opportunity to do quality performances without compromise.

His love of comedy remains unwavering as he prepares for the Adelaide Fringe 2025.

“Stand-up is my first love.

“Everything else I do, like voice acting in Blinky Bill and 100% Wolf, is just for fun. But stand-up? That’s where my heart is,” Mr Saleh said.
