Cielo, the beloved tea room tucked inside Adelaide Arcade, will close its doors this year—but not without leaving behind something beautiful: a return to its roots.
On May 10, the tearoom will pour its final cup to make way for a heartfelt evolution. But tea lovers won’t have to say goodbye to the flavours they’ve come to cherish. Instead, they’ll find them in Chaveli’s newly rebranded tea label—Fresia & Cassia—which inspired Cielo from the very beginning.
Relaunching on May 31, Fresia & Cassia will offer the same handmade, locally blended teas that were once served at Cielo, now available to order online and enjoy at home.
Fresia & Cassia has always been part of Chaveli’s story. Long before the tearoom opened, she began blending teas under the label. Inspired by the legacy of tea rituals passed down through her Abuelita and generations of women in her Chilean family. From her great-grandmother cooling tea in saucers for her as a toddler, to long afternoon chats, and the ritual of “tecito” or “once”, tea has always been more than a beverage—it’s been a thread connecting memory, meaning, and home.
Cielo was created as a space to share those blends, to bring a little warmth and pause into the heart of Adelaide.
Now, Chaveli is returning her full focus to Fresia & Cassia, ready to grow the brand with the same soulful care that shaped the tearoom.
“Cielo isn’t finished. It’s just taking a break. This isn’t the end, it’s an evolution.
“I am working on something really special to ensure that what I set Cielo up for, continues.
“Sharing my tea blends with the community is always something that has lit me up and the opportunity to pursue this full-time is a dream come true. I am connected to Fresia & Cassia on a really deep level,” she says.
Already stocked in some of Adelaide’s favourite boutique cafés, including Dante’s Deli, Fresia & Cassia is well on its way to becoming a staple for soulful sippers everywhere.
And while the tearoom may be closing for now, Chaveli hints that Saturdays might still hold a little sweetness, with a secret project already brewing.
Because every cup tells a story—and hers is far from over.
