Tucked inside the bustling Hindley Street Music Hall, a new culinary venture is bringing bold flavours and a nostalgic flair to pizza lovers in the Adelaide CBD.
Cosmo’s Pizza Bar, the brainchild of hospitality duo Josh Bartolo and Josh O’Shaunessy is more than just another pizza place. It’s a family-run labour of love, blending New York street charm, a passion for pizza, and the cheeky spirit of Seinfeld.
For Bartolo, this marks his first leap into restaurant ownership after years of experience managing popular venues like Wing It Sports Bar. But he’s not going it alone. Joining forces with O’Shaunessy – well-known for his Taco Cartel food truck – the pair have created a concept that’s as much about character as it is about crust.
“Josh and I have always been big Seinfeld fans, and I’ve had the real deal in New York and that’s what we’re aiming to bring here.
“This project combines all our greatest loves under one roof. Our love for pizza, love for hospitality and love of sharing a place like this with the community.
“We have worked with amazing suppliers to pull this concept together so our customers are going to enjoy pizzas that are unique to Cosmo’s,” Bartolo says.
If you’ve never seen the sitcom you do not need to worry, this venue has a vibe that far transcends the popular show. It has a personality of its own.
With deep green interior, beautiful tan seating and nostalgic nods to a well known sitcom, this is more than a local pizza joint.
The menu champions quality and craft, with house-made dough, sauces, and desserts and if we don’t say so ourselves the Big Salad manages to join the line up as a very welcome addition to the menu.
While pizza is the star, there’s ambition beyond the base.
The project’s location inside a Renew Adelaide space is symbolic of its timing – and its optimism with the team looking forward to embarking on this journey.
Cosmo’s Pizza is set to bring a new slice of life to 149 Hindley Street that is fresh, familiar, and full of flavour.
