After 36 years of neglect and a transformative 36 months of construction, 88 O’Connell Street in North Adelaide has emerged as a stunning destination with Yakisan, a progressive dining experience like no other at its epicentre.

This flagship venue redefines what North Adelaide—and perhaps Adelaide itself—has to offer in culinary and hospitality innovation.

Occupying an impressive 2,000 square metres of prime real estate, Yakisan boasts a purpose-built, architecturally designed space that blends functionality with elegance.

Inspired by Japanese design principles, the venue incorporates elements of precision and warmth, creating a dining environment as aesthetically striking as it is welcoming.

Skylights run through the centre of the building, bringing natural light into the core of the space and providing guests with a connection to the surrounding urban landscape with developers bringing the best of the outside, into the venue.

Yakisan is more than just a restaurant—it’s an immersive experience. Featuring an open barbecue grill, guests are drawn into the heart of the culinary process, connecting diners with the craftsmanship of the kitchen.

The venue has been designed with adaptability in mind, hosting up to 500 guests for events, a 120-seat dining room, and outdoor seating for 52 guests. Three distinct kitchens operate seamlessly to service the venue in its entirety.

What sets Yakisan apart is its holistic approach to hospitality. The SkyDeck, a rooftop garden oasis, offers a serene escape where guests can enjoy a leisurely lunch, co-work in a connected environment, or simply take in views of the city’s skyline.

Designed for accessibility, the venue includes ample parking, wheelchair-friendly facilities, and an easy flow that invites patrons of all backgrounds.

Head Chef of the venue, Adam Liston, known for his culinary expertise in venues like Shobosho and Shosho believes North Adelaide’s revitalisation has found its crown jewel in Yakisan.

“Yakisan is positioned to take over as a central culinary hub, it embodies the future of O’Connell Street as a vibrant, community-focused destination.

“Yakisan will deliver an unmatched blend of luxury, accessibility, and local charm.

“This restaurant is purpose-designed from the ground up to offer warmth, precision, and a true dining experience. We’ve poured our heart and soul into every element.

With its focus on innovation and evolution, Yakisan represents the future of dining in Adelaide—where every detail is designed to leave an unforgettable impression.
