After years of success with CREAM, Adelaide’s beloved brunch spot, owner, Josh and Chimere Rivers have unveiled Girl Next Door, a new concept that’s a bold new direction for health-conscious food lovers.
Located right next to CREAM, Girl Next Door is the answer to a long-standing gap in Adelaide’s food scene, a place where loaded bagels meet macro-tracked overnight oats.
The idea behind Girl Next Door came naturally to the owner of the popular Brighton venue.
Rather than letting the space sit empty, the team saw an opportunity to create something new, a venue that would give people what they’ve been asking for and would give Josh the opportunity to bring a health focused vision to life.
“We’ve spent a decade creating naughty food at CREAM and Girl Next Door is an opportunity to bring a health focused concept to life that has been sitting in my mind for quite some time.
“We were the first ones to bring the bagel scene to Adelaide during COVID. From there, heaps of bagel joints have popped up around Adelaide. We have been asked on many occasions to bring back our offering and through Girl Next Door, we are,” Mr Rivers said.
The bagels at this seaside venue are not just any bagels. They’re generously packed with flavourful, hearty fillings that Josh has created himself. But the real twist in this venue is the health focus.
The menu includes overnight oats, with macro and calorie counts available for those serious about their health and fitness goals.
The oat bar is a standout feature, offering a build-your-own experience where customers can select from a list of high-quality ingredients. It is all part of the long term plan of the team who wants to give people control over their meal.
“Tracking macros while eating out is tough so we wanted to give people control over their meal without having to compromise on their goals or taste.
“I made the menu myself and very soon you will be able to plug the macros or calories into MyFitnessPal and everything can be documented from there,” Mr Rivers said.
It’s not just oats and bagels you’ll find on the menu, but smoothies and takeaway coffee too, making it the perfect stop for a quick but nutritious breakfast or snack.
This launch is also part of Josh’s broader business strategy to consolidate and future-proof his business, restructuring his venues to maximise opportunities for all concepts.
“While Landoughs has closed, we are now running THREE restaurant concepts in one venue. CREAM runs during the day. Diamond Burger runs in the venue at night and Girl Next Door runs on its own.
“You have to adapt and consolidate to survive. That’s what we’re doing here.
“The next year is going to be tough for hospo,” Mr Rivers said.
With its blend of indulgence and health, Girl Next Door strikes the perfect balance. Whether you’re craving a loaded bagel or a nutrient-packed bowl of oats, the venue has you covered.
