Adelaide’s thriving hospitality scene is about to get a fresh new addition with the opening of HOOKED, the latest venue from the team at Embr Hospitality.

Nestled in the heart of Broadway, Glenelg South, HOOKED promises to deliver a modern, elevated take on the classic fish and chip shop, blending nostalgia with contemporary flair.

This new venture marks another exciting chapter for Embr Hospitality, a group that has steadily built a reputation for creating innovative and diverse dining experiences across South Australia since launching in 2018.

Embr Hospitality has been at the forefront of Adelaide’s food and drink scene, carving out a unique identity with each of their carefully curated establishments. The group’s success stems from a commitment to quality, atmosphere, and a deep understanding of the local market.

HOOKED is set to continue this tradition, offering a relaxed and refined take on fish and chips that reflects the seaside charm of Glenelg South.

The menu will feature a mix of classic fish and chip shop staples and modern twists.

Think beer-battered flathead served with house-made tartare, crispy fries topped with furikake seasoning, and charred octopus with romesco sauce.

By blending the casual familiarity of a fish and chip shop with the refinement of a modern dining venue, HOOKED is poised to become a new favourite in Glenelg South.

The group’s story began with the opening of The Sailing Club SA in 2018, a stylish yet laid-back beachside venue that quickly became a local favourite, known for its breezy coastal vibes, expertly crafted cocktails, and fresh seafood offerings.

Two years later, Embr expanded into the heart of the city with Bar Lune. Bar Lune brought a touch of European sophistication to Adelaide’s bar scene, with an extensive wine list, craft cocktails, and a menu that champions local ingredients. This proved to be a hit with not only locals but with individuals travelling from around Adelaide to visit the suburban hotspot.

In response to growing demand for high-quality catering and grazing experiences, the group launched Spread in 2021. This premium grazing and catering service became known for its stunning charcuterie boards and thoughtfully curated spreads, perfect for events and intimate gatherings.

Embr took things up a notch with Dolly in 2022, a vibrant cocktail bar that channels the glamour of the 1970s. The playful yet refined vibe quickly attracted a loyal following, with its retro décor, disco-inspired playlists, and expertly mixed drinks that paired perfectly with the venue Spread being so close.

In 2023, Embr ventured into the delicatessen space with Don’s Deli, even though it was not its first attempt at a concept of that nature. Offering an impressive selection of cured meats, cheeses, and artisan sandwiches, Don’s became a go-to spot for food lovers seeking quick, high-quality bites.

Also in 2023, the group opened Oliveti focusing on handmade pasta, woodfired pizzas, and a curated selection of Italian wines. The Broadway venue is popular amongst locals and lovers of Italian, bringing authentic Italian charm to Adelaide.

Now, in 2025, Embr is set to make waves with HOOKED a modern reimagining of the classic fish and chip shop.

With its prime location near the beach and a carefully crafted menu, HOOKED is expected to become a destination for both locals and visitors.

Embr Hospitality’s track record speaks for itself as every venue has become a key part of Adelaide’s hospitality landscape, and HOOKED is set to follow suit.
